Cardinals Capture Finale, 6-1 over Naturals

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Springfield starter, Williams Perez stymied the Naturals' sticks over 6.2 innings and the Cardinals took the finale, 6-1 over Northwest Arkansas at Hammons Field on Sunday night. The Naturals won the series, winnings 7-4 on Friday night and 12-5 on Saturday.
Springfield (23-33) scored two unearned run in the second inning off starter, JC Cloney (1-1, 3.09 ERA) and used a pair of solo home runs during the middle innings to grab a 4-0 lead.
Northwest Arkansas 23-32) stranded six baserunners on over the course of the first four innings; but finally cracked the scoreboard with a solo home run by Kort Peterson - his sixth of the season and second in as many games - to break the goose egg.
Peterson finished with three hits and a triple shy of the cycle in the losing effort.
Northwest Arkansas will head home for a seven-game homestand starting on Monday, June 3 against the Arkansas Travelers (Seattle Mariners) at Arvest Ballpark.
Right-hander, Gerson Garabito (2-3, 4.17 ERA) takes the ball for the Naturals against left-hander, Ricardo Sanchez (4-3, 3.90 ERA) for the Travelers.
First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. with the Indigo Sky Casino Pregame Show beginning at 7:05 with the "Voice of the Naturals," Benjamin Kelly on 92.1-FM, the Ticket and the Naturals Radio Network.
