Palm Beach Cardinals News Release

Jupiter, FL - The Palm Beach Cardinals outplayed the Bradenton Marauders for a good portion of the game on Saturday night at Roger Dean Stadium, but fell 8-5 to drop into a three-way tie for first place in the FSL South Division standings.

The Cardinals (37-25, 73-58) committed a season-high four errors on the evening and allowed five unearned runs.

Corey Littrell (0-2) matched Pittsburgh Pirates highly-touted prospect Tyler Glasnow pitch-for-pitch throughout his seven innings of work. The lefty allowed eight runs - three earned - on 11 hits and struck out a season-high seven batters.

Jose Osuna took Littrell deep in part of a four-run fifth inning for the Marauders (37-25, 72-59). The two-run shot was his 10th of the year and put Bradenton up 7-2.

Glasnow (12-5) tied a season-high with four runs allowed on three hits over five innings pitched. He walked two and struck out eight while getting credited with the win. He is 12-2 over his last 14 decisions dating back to May 28.

Glasnow, the 19th-best prospect in baseball according to MLB.com, has surrendered more than three runs in a contest just two times in 22 starts this season - both times were against the Cardinals.

Palm Beach got on the board with two runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Anthony Garcia lined a two-run single into left field in the fourth inning to cut the Bradenton lead to 3-2. The RBI hit also broke up a short no-hit bid for Glasnow - who went 3.2 innings without allowing a knock.

After falling behind 7-2, the Cardinals answered with two more runs in the fifth. On his 24th birthday, Mason Katz launched a two-out, two-run home run to left field to make it a 7-4 game. Nick Martini reached on a single and touched home on Katz' birthday bash.

Bradenton padded their lead to 8-4 with another unearned run in the seventh.

Martini, who is batting .533 (8-for-15) over his last four games, drove in a run in the seventh inning to cap the scoring at 8-5.

Logan Billbrough pitched two perfect innings of relief with three strikeouts to end the game for Palm Beach.

The Birds loaded the bases with nobody out in the ninth inning but couldn't push across a run against Bradenton reliever Yhonathan Barrios.

The Marauders were extremely efficient with runners on base throughout the game. With 11 hits and four Palm Beach errors, the team didn't strand a single runner on base all night. Bradenton went 5-for-6 with runners in scoring position and made the big hits count.

The two teams will wrap up the four-game series on Sunday afternoon. RH Corey Baker (5-2, 2.21) will start for Palm Beach against RH Shane Carle (2-3, 3.67) for Bradenton. First pitch is at 1:05 p.m.
