TAMPA - The Tampa Yankees (34-28) stayed undefeated in the final home stand of the season by dealing a three-hit shutout in a 2-0 win over the Dunedin Blue Jays (29-33) on Saturday night at George M. Steinbrenner Field.

Yankee pitchers retired the final 17 Blue Jays in a row to finish off the eighth shutout victory of the season.

LHP Miguel Sulbaran (4-4) pitched seven scoreless frames, scattering three hits. The southpaw struck out six while not surrendering a walk.

Tampa took the lead for good in the bottom of the second when Mike Ford belted his first home run as a Tampa Yankee. Ford hit a solo shot off RHP Jesse Hernandez with one out in the frame.

Cito Culver provided some insurance with an RBI single in the sixth. Ericson Leonora hit a leadoff single and advanced on a base hit by Mark Payton. Culver then grounded a ball into left field and Leonora beat a throw to the plate by Nick Baligod.

Hernandez (6-10) pitched a season-high six and two-third innings and tied a season-high with seven strikeouts in the loss for Dunedin. The right-hander yielded two runs on eight hits with no walks allowed.

After Sulbaran retired the final 11 batters he faced, RHP Chris Smith struck out two in a perfect eighth. RHP Alex Smith took the ball in the ninth and picked up one strikeout in a 1-2-3 frame, earning his seventh save of the season.

Leonora went 3-for-3 with a run scored. Jose Rosario singled twice in a 2-for-3 effort.

Despite a first-pitch delay of an hour and two minutes, the game proved to be the quickest nine-inning game of the season for Tampa with a time of 2:04.

The series wraps up on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. as RHP Brady Lail (1-1, 4.62 ERA) takes the hill for Tampa. RHP Taylor Cole (8-7, 3.05 ERA) is set to start for Dunedin.

Seniors eat free on Sunday home games with the Tampa Yankees. Fans ages 55 and over receive a coupon for a free scooter dog, small popcorn and a small soda, with the purchase of a $5 reserved ticket. Also, kids ages 14 and under receive free admission.
