Captains to hold youth clinic on Saturday

SHREVEPORT, La. - The Shreveport-Bossier Captains announced that they are holding a youth clinic for youngsters aged 4-13, on Saturday, August 1. The clinic will be held from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., with lunch provided. The clinic is $25 per person, but is free for all members of the Lil' Captains Kids Club. The cost includes a ticket to that night's game, at 7:05 p.m., against the Lincoln Saltdogs.

The clinic is a great chance for kids to mingle with Captains players and coaches, including manager Ricky VanAsselberg, learn tips from the professionals, and have a great time while improving their skills.

"I know kids these days don't spend as much time as they used to playing sports outside and learning skills," VanAsselberg said. "That's why I think it's so important for teams to hold clinics like this, and I encourage all of you youngsters out there interested in baseball to come and check it out."

The Shreveport-Bossier Captains conclude their four-game series with the El Paso Diablo on Wednesday, July 29, at 8:05 p.m. Central Time. After an off day on Thursday, the Captains are back at home to welcome in the Lincoln Saltdogs for three, starting on Friday, July 31, at 7:05 p.m. Kids can run the bases free after that game, which is also Boy Scout Night. All games are broadcast on ESPN Radio, KRMD-1340 AM and streamed live on supertalk1340.com, with streaming video provided by NiftyTV on www.sbcaptains.com for all home games and select road games.
