Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Brandon, Manitoba - Tip Top Tailors, in conjunction with the Brandon Wheat Kings have announced that Captain Ryan Pulock has been chosen the first Player of the Month award winner for the 2012-13 Western Hockey League season.
An 18-year old native of Grandview, Pulock enters this weekend's games against Moose Jaw and Calgary, tied with Alessio Bertaggia for the Wheat Kings' scoring lead with seven goals and 18 points in sixteen games.
Chosen to the WHL's Eastern Conference First All Star Team last season, Pulock will represent the Wheat Kings in next month's Subway Super Series against Russia. Pulock, who was a member of Team WHL last season, will take to the ice in game five of the Canadian Hockey League series in Vancouver, before rejoining the Wheat Kings in Cranbrook, B.C.
Pulock is currently third in scoring among WHL blueliners, trailing Moose Jaw's Morgan Rielly by one point and Myles Bell of the Kamloops Blazers by five.
Since joining the Wheat Kings in the fall of 2010, the 6' 200 lb blueliner who is expected to be an early selection in next June's National Hockey League Entry Draft, has scored 120 points, including 34 goals in 150 career Western League games.
This marks the second time in his WHL career that he's been chosen winner of this prestigious monthly award. The former Parkland AAA Midget Ranger captured this award in January 2012.
In recognition of the monthly honour, Pulock will receive a shirt, tie and suit from Tip Top Tailors in the Shoppers Mall, the official menswear clothier of the Wheat Kings, during Saturday's game against the Hitmen at Westman Communications Group Place.
The Wheat Kings, who have just returned from a grueling 7-game western road swing that saw them compile a 2-3-1-1 record, enter the weekend with an overall record of 7-6-2-1.
Tickets to both weekend games are on sale now at the Keystone Centre box office, by calling 726-3555 or online at keystonecentre.com.
