October 29, 2023 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Madison Capitols News Release
The Capitols hit the road for the first two games of the weekend to face off against the NTDP. On Friday, the team fell short against the U-17s with a matchup set against the U-18's on Saturday.
Madison found the back of the net first in this one with Max Nagel grabbing sole possession of the team lead in goals with six. The goal was the quickest of the season for the Caps coming at the 39 second mark of the first. The U18s answered with a goal of their own later in the period, which made the score 1-1 at intermission number one.
In the second, the NTDP was able to find the back of the net first. However, a pair of goals within a 30-second time span of one another gave the Capitols a 3-2 lead. The goals came from Austin Burnevik(5) and Ethan Elias(1). The team took that lead into intermission number two and did not look back on it.
Charlie Michaud found his second of the season, and Ethan Elias did the same, which was also his second of the night. These goals propelled the Capitols to a 5-2 win.
Patriks Berzins stopped 20 of the 22 NTDP shots on goal in the contest, which somehow still decreased his stats on the year.
Madison hits the road tomorrow to face off against the Youngstown Phantoms at 3 pm CT.
Following tomorrow's game, the Caps return home the first weekend of November to face Omaha. Tickets for the two-game series can be found at tickets.madcapshockey.com.
