Jacks Offense Quite in 5-1 Loss to Green Bay on Sunday

MUSKEGON - The tightly contested three game series between the Muskegon Lumberjacks (7-3-1-1, 16 pts.) and Green Bay Gamblers (8-5-0-0, 16 pts.) came to a close on Sunday afternoon with the Gamblers stunning the Jacks in a 5-1 win.

Green Bay opened the scoring with the only goal of the first period while on the power play. Lev Katzin found a rebound at the side of the net, and was able to force it to the back of the net at the 3:53 mark.

Muskegon tied the game 1-1 with a power play goal of their own at the 5:45 mark of the second period. Hunter Anderson (Manhattan Beach, CA) gave the puck to David Klee (Castle Rock, CO) at the near side of the Green Bay net. Klee sent a pass across the front of the net to Jack Galanek (Hopkinton, MA) who one-timed a shot between the goalies legs and into the back of the net.

The Gamblers responded with two goals before the end of the middle stanza to take a 3-1 lead into the second intermission. Libor Nemec finished a goal from in tight to the cage at the 7:38 mark, then Geno Carcone scored his second goal of the weekend at the 14:56 mark by finishing a pass sent out front by William Hughes.

Two more goals came for the Gamblers in the third period to pick up the 5-1 win. Nemec scored his second goal of the game on an unassisted play at the 5:19 mark. Landon Gunderson received a pass in the middle of the slot from Mykhailo Danylov and ripped a shot to the back of the net just moments later at the 6:36 mark.

Lucas Szyszka (Westmont, IL) (0-2-0-0) started the game for Muskegon, but only lasted 35 minutes after allowing three goals on 25 shots from the Gamblers. Lukas Swedin (Stockholm, SWE) entered in relief turning away 7 of the 9 shots he faced. Gavin Moffat (1-2-0-0) earned his first win of the season by stopping 23 of the 24 shots sent his way.
