Des Moines 4, Lincoln 3
Des Moines overcame a two-goal deficit to post its third win in the last four games with a 4-3 victory over Lincoln Saturday.
The visiting Stars took a 1-0 lead at 19:33 of the opening period on a Dashel Oliver goal and when Jack Perchar scored shortly after the opening faceoff in the second period, it became a 2-0 lead. Buccaneers' forward Jack Kernan scored right after and when he scored again on the power play at 4:48, the two teams stood tied 2-2 at the end of the second period.
Paul Minnehan tallied his third goal of the year at 1:48 of the third and then connected for his fourth goal of the year at 15:53 in making it a 4-2 Des Moines lead. Jared Mangen brought the Stars within one at the 17-minute mark, but Des Moines was able to hold on the rest of the way to claim the win.
Ethan Dahlmeir stopped 16 shots to record the win. Lucas Massie was credited with 21 saves for the Stars.
Madison 5, USA Hockey NTDP 2
A pair of goals from defenseman Ethan Elias helped propel Madison to a 5-2 win over USA Hockey NTDP Saturday.
Max Nagel's sixth goal of the season, which came at 9:39 of the first, gave the Capitols a 1-0 lead. Kamil Bednarik responded at 12:48 and after the first period of play the score stood 1-1.
Shane Vansaghi struck for his first goal of the season at 7:09 of the second, but Madison scored twice before end of the period to take a 3-2 lead. Elias, who's in his fourth year of action in the USHL, tied the game at 12:53 and Austin Burnevik put the Capitols up for good at 13:22.
Charlie Michaud's second goal of the year at 14:44 of the third made it a 4-2 game and Elias closed it out with his second goal of the year into an empty net at 16:15.
Now 6-2-2-0 on the year, the Caps got a 20-save effort from Patriks Berzins in the game. Jack Parsons finished with 19 stops for the NTDP.
Fargo 4, Omaha 2
The Fargo Force established a franchise record for consecutive wins with 10 in claiming a 4-2 victory at Omaha Saturday.
Scoring the first two goals of the game, the host Lancers didn't make it easy for the undefeated Force as Aleksi Kvioja got his fourth goal of the season at 2:02 and Jamison Sluys scored at 8:55. Harper Bentz cut into the lead when he scored at 12:46 for his fourth goal this year and Gavin Kor's power play marker at 19:07 made it 2-2 before the end of the period.
After both teams were held scoreless in the second period, Fargo finally took the lead when Michael Neumeier scored his first USHL goal at 17:40 of the third on a screen shot from the left wall. Mac Swanson added an empty-netter at 18:18 in closing out the scoring in the game.
Hampton Slukynsky, who now stands 5-0-0-0 on the season, stopped 24 shots for the Force, while Mikhail Yegorov had 35 saves for the Lancers.
Dubuque 6, Waterloo 5
Trailing 4-2 early in the third period, Dubuque scored four straight times enroute to a 6-5 win at Waterloo Saturday.
The score stood 1-1 at the end of one after Dubuque's Jake Sondreal scored at 15:17 and Waterloo's John Mustard tallied at 16:48.
Mustard's second goal of the game, which came at 5:44 of the second, put the Black Hawks up 2-1, but Jayden Jubenvill tied it up at 8:35 with his third goal of the season. Waterloo held a 3-2 lead at the end of the second after Gavin Lindberg scored at 12:32.
Jackson Nevers got his first USHL goal when he scored at 0:24 of the third to put the Black Hawks up by two, but Dubuque proceeded to score four consecutive times to regain the lead. Sondreal started the rally with his second of the game coming at 6:37. Lucas St. Louis found the back of the net at 10:12 and four minutes later Erik Pahlsson, the USHL's leading scorer, tallied for the 10th time this year. Jubenvill got his second of the game at 18:18 to make it 6-4. Tyler Miller scored for Waterloo with 15 seconds remaining in the game, but Dubuque was able to hold on the rest of the way.
Kevin Reidler finished with 30 saves for the Fighting Saints and Jack Spicer had 26 stops for the Black Hawks.
Sioux City 6, Chicago 3
Kyle Shahan's hat trick helped lead Sioux City to a 6-3 home win over Chicago Saturday.
A native of Everett, Wash., Shahan scored the first two goals of the game for the Musketeers, who never trailed in the contest.
Besides the two markers from Shahan, second-period tallies from Makaio Van Tassell and Dylan Godbout made it a 4-0 Sioux City lead after 40 minutes of action.
Chicago got on the board early in the third when Hans-Martin Ulvebne scored at 2:38, but Sioux City responded at 9:02 on a goal from Hagen Burrows. Ben Yurchuk and Anthony Cardilli recorded goals for the Steel at 10:31 and 15:57, respectively, in making it a 5-3 game, but Shanan's final goal, which was scored into an empty net at 19:52, sealed the win for the Musketeers.
Jakub Krabecek had 20 saves for Sioux City, while Christian Manz had 20 stops for Chicago.
Youngstown 6, Sioux Falls 3
Six different players scored goals for Youngstown as the Phantoms rolled to a 6-3 win over Sioux Falls Saturday.
Youngstown, which now stands 8-3-0-0 for the year with the victory, led 3-1 after the first period of action. Braiden Clark, Michael Burchill and Miles Gunty dented the twine for the Phantoms, while Matheson Mason responded for the Stampede.
Ryan Ruchinski made it a 4-1 lead at 3:22 of the second and after Sioux Falls forward Chris Pelosi replied at 16:15, the score stood 4-2 after 40 minutes.
Defenseman Gennadi Chaly's third goal of the year, which came at 2:14 of the third, pulled the Stampede within one. But the reigning Clark Cup champions closed out the victory with goals from Hunter Ramos at 5:57 and Grant Young at 19:54.
Colin Winn had 30 saves for Youngstown and Caleb Heil recorded 22 stops for Sioux Falls.
Green Bay 6, Muskegon 5 so
With not much separating the two teams in regulation, it took a shootout for Green Bay to claim a 6-5 win over Muskegon Saturday.
Goals from Cody Croal and Sacha Boisvert staked the host Musketeers to an early 2-0 lead, but a Jayson Shaugabay power play marker kept the Gamblers within one after the first 20 minutes of action.
Green Bay took a one-goal lead in the middle stanza on goals from Blake Bechen on a power play and a shorthanded goal from Jason Gallucci.
It became a 4-2 Gamblers' lead when Gene Carcone scored at 1:43 of the third, but Boisvert, with his second of the game at 6:05, Ty Henricks at 6:44, and Hunter Anderson at 9:12, flipped the switch for Muskegon. Bechen scored his second of the game on a Green Bay power play at 11:25 in sending the game into overtime.
The contest went to a shootout after neither team was able to score in the extra session. Adam Gajan, who had 38 saves in the game, stopped all five Musketeer shots in the shootout, and Paxton Geisel made four straight shootout saves for Muskegon before Gambler forward Julian Lutz scored to end the game.
Green Bay stands 7-5-0-0 with the win and Muskegon falls to 7-2-1-1.
Cedar Rapids 5, Tri-City 2
The visiting Storm held a 1-0 lead on a Dallas Vieau first-period tally, but could not sustain it as Cedar Rapids claimed a 5-2 victory Saturday.
Amine Hajibi and Mason Muscutt tallied second period goals to give the RoughRiders control of the game.
It became a 3-1 lead after Cade Littler scored a shorthanded marker at 1:03 of the third. Artemi Nizameyev made it 3-2 when he scored for Tri-City at 2:19, but Cedar Rapids pulled away on goals from Aiden Welch at 17:31 and an empty netter by Caden Lee at 18:49.
Sam Scopa finished with 31 saves for the RoughRiders and Cameron Korpi had 12 for Tri-City.
