Madison Capitols News Release

Madison, WI- The Madison Capitols (18-15-9) will hope for a bounce back performance against the U.S. Under-18 National Development Program on Saturday night at the Alliant Energy Center at 7 p.m. It marks the conclusion of Purple & Pucks weekend, which is raising money for the American Cancer Society and ComfyCozys for Chemo in the fight against all cancers.

Following the game Saturday, the Capitols ' specialty purple tie-dye jerseys will be auctioned off and proceeds will benefit ComfyCozys.

Madison hung tough with Team USA through the first half of regulation on Friday, as Guillaume Leclerc and Mitch Hults (power play) tallied goals fro Madison in the first and second, respectively.

However, the U18's found their game shortly after the Hults marker, which made the score 3-2 Team USA, and rattled off six unanswered goals to take a 9-2 decision. The Team USA power play did in the Capitols, going 4-for-5 on the evening.

In the defeat, Hults extended his point streak to three games, as did Charlie Gerard. Hults has tallied five points in his last three games in total.

Jeremy Bracco and Auston Matthews (2 goals, 2 assists each) paced the offense for Team USA, and six different skaters scored for the Americans. The 17-year-old Matthews has been tabbed by many hockey experts to be a top prospect for the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

Madison is still looking for its first victory in its home city since Dec. 29, a span of eight games.

Following the matchup on Saturday, Madison takes to the road for seven of its next eight games, including a 3:30 p.m. tilt with the Chicago Steel on Sunday at the Edge Ice Arena. The Capitols have been a better road team than home team of late, going 4-1-1 in their last six games away from the Coliseum.

The Capitols will wrap up a three-game weekend as they travel to Chicago on Sunday for a 3:30 p.m. encounter with the Steel. Coverage can be heard on 106.7 FM, 1670 AM, The Zone in Madison or online at www.madcitysportszone.com .

The Capitols return home on Sunday, March 8 for a matchup with the Bloomington Thunder. Puck drop is set for 3 p.m. and there will be a post-game skate with the team and D.C. Eagle.

Tickets for that game and any of the Capitols' remaining 2015 home games can be purchased by visiting www.madcapshockey.com, www.ticketmaster.com, or by calling (608) 257-CAPS (2277).
