
Thunder Welcome Black Hawks to Bloomington

Bloomington, IL - The second game of the weekend finishes a five-game home stand for the Bloomington Thunder as the Waterloo Black Hawks come to the U.S. Cellular Coliseum Saturday night. Game time is 7:00 pm CST as the Thunder look to rebound from a close contest with the Youngstown Phantoms just two days ago.

The Thunder celebrate Star Wars night at the Coliseum to benefit the Easter Seals. Special Star Wars characters will be on the concourse and on the ice. Say Star Wars when you buy your ticket and $1 will be donated to the cause. Games and Star Wars Patch purchases also benefit the disability services center. If there are 5,000 fans in attendance, sponsors will also donate $1,000. For tickets call (309) 434-2980.

Bloomington places in fifth in the Eastern Conference with a 20-18-7 record and 47 points. The Thunder suffered their second loss in three games but are 4-2-0 in six games. Bloomington's scoring differential in those six games has been +9 at 22-13. The Thunder's 1-0 game with the Youngstown Phantoms was the eighth meeting of the season and former Black Hawk goaltender Hayden Lavigne (University of Michigan) made 23 saves. Since leaving Waterloo and stepping between the pipes for Bloomington, the Brantford, ON native has been 7-3-0, a 2.20 GAA and a .909 SVPT. Both Lavigne and defenseman Jeremy Davies (Northeastern University) began the season with the Hawks.
Waterloo is toward the bottom of the Western Conference at 16-21-5, however they are playing some of their best hockey to date. Since the acquisition of netminder Cale Morris the Hawks are 8-1-2 with Morris starting in net for all 11 games. The Larkspur, CO native is 8-9-1 split between Chicago and Waterloo but has a 1.44 GAA and a .951 SVPT since making the move. Brock Boeser (University of North Dakota) leads Waterloo with 47 points (27g, 20a) in 40 games played and is tied for fourth in the United States Hockey League's scoring race. The Thunder will also welcome back former Bloomington defenseman Ethan Spaxman (Merrimack College) to the U.S. Cellular Coliseum. The Brantford, ON native played 12 games with the Thunder before being traded to the Black Hawks.
