
Capitols Select Nine in USHL Phase I Draft

Middleton, WI - The 2020 USHL Phase I Draft concluded on Monday evening with the Madison Capitols selecting nine total players with 2004 birth years. The selections included four forwards, four defenseman, and one goaltender.
"We're very pleased with our draft today," says head coach Tom Upton "[Assistant Coach] Will Craig did a tremendous drop preparing our draft board and organizing our list throughout the day. We feel that we acquired not only talented players, and even better people. We are very excited about the future of Madison Capitols hockey."
The Capitols draft was highlighted by the first overall selection of Quinn Finley out of the Green Bay Jr. Gamblers program. Finley hails from Suamico, Wisconsin, where he posted 16 goals with 19 assists in only 15 games in the Minnesota Bantam Elite League.
"We're extremely excited to have Quinn and his family join the Madison Capitols organization," says coach Upton. "Quinn's a very talented hockey player, but what separates him from others is his high character, and his drive to be the best player he can possibly be."
The Capitols rounded out the draft with eight other highly sought after picks:

3rd Round (Pick 31) - Landon Fleming | Defenseman | Oregon, WI | Oakland Jr. Grizzlies
3rd Round (Pick 42) - Trey Ausmus | Defenseman | East Grand Forks, MN | East Grand Forks High School
4th Round (Pick 46) - Nathan Lewis | Forward | Northville, MI | Oakland Jr. Grizzlies
7th Round (Pick 91) - Tristan Sarsland | Defenseman | Wayazata, MN | Benlide-St. Margaret's School
8th Round (Pick 106) - Ian Spencer | Forward | Moneka, IL | Chicago Fury
9th Round (Pick 121) - Patrick Czarnecki | Defenseman | Bloomfield Hills, MI | Honeybaked
10th Round (Pick 136) - Landen Gunderson | Forward | Plymouth, MN | Minnesota Blades AAA
The Capitols will select new players for this year's team during the Phase II USHL draft tomrro, Tuesday, 5th.
