Geneva, IL - The Chicago Steel used an offensive onslaught to chop down the Madison Capitols 6-1 at Fox Valley Ice Arena on Saturday night.
Mackie Samoskevichmade a nice toe-drag around the defender before snipping one past Simon Latkoczyfor the 1-0 lead 1:53 into the first period. Tyler Carpentergave a final shove to double the lead on a power play before Owen Powerscored on the second power play to finish out the first period on a couple of bad bounces for Madison.
Stepan Pokornywas able to give the Capitols their lone goal of the contest and his fifth on the season thanks to a great play by Carson Bantle. Bantle stole the puck behind the end line, and as he moved to the far post, backhanded a pass to Pokorny who scored on a stunned Victor Ostman.
Chicago would increase their lead with three more goals in the 2ndperiod thanks to a fortunate bounce off an unattentive Sam Colangelo, Samoskevich's 2ndof the game, and Brendan Brisson'snice backhander. Garrett Mackaycame on in relief of Latkoczy at the 8:36 mark of the 2ndperiod.
Colangelo tacked on another goal for his second of the contest before Uula Ruikkanetted his 2ndof the weekend. The final nail in the coffin came from Dawson Pasternak with his 2ndgoal of the season on a power play.
