Canucks Recall Edler and Re-assign Coulombe to Moose

The Vancouver Canucks, the NHL affiliate of the Manitoba Moose, announced they have recalled defenceman Alex Edler and re-assigned defenceman Patrick Coulombe to the Moose.

Edler, 20, has appeared in four games thus far this season with the Canucks, recording one assists. In 13 games with the Moose this year, the native of Ostersund, SWE has four assists and six penalty minutes. In 62 games last season with the Kelowna Rockets, the Ostersund, SWE native scored 13 goals and 40 assists for 53 points and 44 penalty minutes in his only season of junior hockey. Edler finished fifth in scoring amongst defencemen in the WHL. In 12 post-season games, he ended up with three goals and five assists for eight points and 12 penalty minutes. Edler was originally Vancouver's third round choice, 91st overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Coulombe, 21, saw action in seven games with Vancouver since being recalled on Nov. 8/06. In that time, he collected one assist and four penalty minutes. In 13 games with the Moose so far this year, he has three assists and eight penalty minutes. In 297 career games in five seasons in the QMJHL with Rimouski and Chicoutimi, the St. Fabien, PQ native scored 44 goals and 185 assists for 229 points and 196 penalty minutes. In 38 playoff games, he scored four goals and 35 assists for 39 points and 14 penalty minutes.
