Canucks recall Balej and McVicar

Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks Senior Vice-President and General Manager Dave Nonis announced today that the Canucks have recalled right wing Josef Balej and goaltender Rob McVicar from the Manitoba Moose of the AHL.

Balej, 23, has recorded 20 points (11-9-20) in 26 AHL games this season with Manitoba and Hartford. His 11 goals include a hat-trick on Friday, December 2nd versus Rochester. Balej was acquired by the Canucks along with a conditional draft pick on October 7th in exchange for forward Fedor Fedorov. He has played 17 NHL games, all with the New York Rangers, recording five points (1-4-5) and four penalty minutes.

McVicar saw his first NHL action in Vancouver's last game, Thursday, December 1st at Edmonton.
