Canucks Recall Alex Edler

The Vancouver Canucks, the NHL affiliate of the Manitoba Moose, announced they have recalled defenceman Alex Edler.

This will be fifth call-up to the Canucks for Edler in his rookie season. The 20-year old native of Ostersund, SWE appeared in 18 games earlier this season with the Canucks. He scored his first professional goal on Nov. 30/06 vs. Anaheim and collected his first NHL assist on Nov. 6/06 vs. Dallas for two points in total. He also collected six penalty minutes. Edler has also played in 41 games so far this year with the Moose where he's scored five goals and 18 assists for 23 points and 24 penalty minutes.

Edler was originally Vancouver's third round choice, 91st overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
