Canucks reassign Jokela to Moose

The Vancouver Canucks announced that they have reassigned defenceman Mikko Jokela (MIH-koh, YOH-kih-lah) to the Manitoba Moose.

Jokela, 22, made his NHL debut last night against the Detroit Red Wings. He added three shots and played 5:09 in the 4-3 overtime victory by the Canucks.

The Canucks acquired Jokela from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for left winger Steve Kariya. Vancouver on Jan. 24/03 and directly assigned him to the Moose. With Manitoba this season, Jokela blasted his first Moose goal last Friday against Hamilton. In the 4-1 loss to the Bulldogs, he had a goal, five shots, a +1 rating and was selected third star of the match. The 6'1" blueliner has one goal and one assist in 10 contests with Manitoba and overall has nine goals and 12 assists for 21 points during 54 AHL games this season.
