Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Canaries (7-19) saw their losing streak extended to six games on Friday night when the Saint Paul Saints (17-10) rode a strong pitching performance from Justin Lord to a 3-1 victory. Lord (5-0) pitched seven innings allowing one run on four hits in picking up his league leading fifth win of the year.

The Saints took a lead in the bottom of the second inning. Canaries starting pitcher Aaron Garrison (1-2) hit Brian Sprout with a pitch. Sprout stole second base and took third on a wild pitch before scoring on a double by Jeremy Frost to put the Saints ahead, 1-0.

In the fourth inning, Sprout hit a solo home run, his fourth of the year, to give the Saints a 2-0 lead. Rob Fischer followed with an infield single. On the play, Garrison threw the ball away at first base, an error that allowed Fischer to second base. Frost followed with his second double of the game to score Fischer for a 3-0 lead.

The Canaries got on the board in the sixth inning. Newcomer Dustin Delucchi walked and Ralph Santana singled to put runners on first and second base. Dennis Anderson followed with a single to score Delucchi for the 3-1 final.

Lord picked up the win and Garrison suffered the loss. Saints closer Matt Hammons picked up his sixth save of the season.

The Canaries and Saints will meet again on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. The Birds return to Sioux Falls on Tuesday night when they will host the Sioux City Explorers for a "Travel Mug Giveaway" presented by Old Courthouse Museum.
