(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, B.C.) - The Canadians sent fourteen (14) hitters to the plate in the bottom of the 1st inning producing 10 runs that helped Vancouver coast to a 16-5 victory over Eugene on Sunday afternoon.
Five Canadians players had multi-hit games during the afternoon slugfest including 1B Justin Atkinson who went 4-for-4 with a pair of runs scored to improve his average to .383 since joining Vancouver just over a week ago. DH Gunnar Heidt was 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and three runs scored while every hitter in the Canadians starting line-up managed at least one hit.
The 20 hits Vancouver recorded become a season high as does the 16 runs that the Canadians earned.
RHP Clinton Hollon went four innings for the Canadians allowing five hits, two earned runs with a strikeout while LHP Josh DeGraaf picks up the win (1-0) as he scattered three hits over his three innings.
Eugene starter LHP Carl Sands allowed nine (9) earned runs over his 1/3 inning of work to see his season ERA go from a respectable 2.78 up to 6.26 in the blink of an eye. Reliever RHP Pedro Araujo went five innings after the C's took a 14-0 lead and struck out 10 in the loss.
