Newark 9, Pittsfield 3
Newark started strong with a four-run first inning, and topped Pittsfield 9-3 in Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium. Left fielder Brandon Watson scored the first run for Newark when right fielder Danny Santiesteban was walked with the bases loaded, and center fielder Pat Biserta followed with a three-RBI double to put the Bears ahead 4-1. The Bears scored three more runs in the bottom of the second inning, and one in each of the fifth and sixth. Pittsfield scored one run in each of the first, second and third innings, and four different Colonials had three hits in the game. Santiesteban was the only Bear to register multiple hits in the game, and the right fielder led Newark with two hits, two runs and two RBI in three at-bats. Chris Vasami earned his first win of the season, allowing 10 hits, three runs and striking out four in 5.1 innings pitched.
