Worcester 3, Nashua 2 (Game 1 - 7 Innings)

In game one of a doubleheader, Worcester scored three times in the top of the third inning and went on to defeat Nashua 3-2. Alex Pena pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed two earned runs on six hits to up his mark to 2-3 on the season. Hideki Nagasaka pitched well for Nashua going 6 1/3 innings, but he took the loss and dropped to 6-4. Tornadoes CF BJ Weed had two hits and a run batted in to lead Worcester's offense. Nashua C Mike Torres hit his second homer of the year in a losing effort.

In game two, Worcester jumped out to an early 5-1 lead behind a two-run homer from DH Jeff Lehair and went on to sweep the doubleheader from Nashua, 6-3. The Tornadoes used three pitchers in the seven inning contest with reliever Anthony Sullivan pitching a scoreless fourth and fifth inning to earn his first win with Worcester. Pride starter Ryan Buckland went just 2 1/3 and surrendered five earned runs, falling to 0-1. C Alex Trezza had a two-run triple in the game and finished 1-for-4.

New Jersey 4, Ottawa 2

New Jersey got a fine effort from their pitching staff to end a nine game losing streak with a 4-2 triumph over Ottawa. Jackals starter Jorge Acosta struck out five and allowed just two earned runs in seven innings pitched. With the win he is now 1-2. Justin Barnes and Rusty Tucker each worked an inning and faced the minimum three batters. Tucker earned save number 16 on the season. LF Luke Allen led the New Jersey offense with a 3-for-4 night. Ottawa 3B Jake Daubert homered in the loss.

Sussex 6, Quebec 1

HR: SUS- Matt Weston (13)

Sussex 1B Matt Weston turned in a big night at the plate to lead the Skyhawks over Quebec 6-1. Weston went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, and three runs scored. Skyhawks 3B Jay Yaconetti had a double and two RBI and RF Jorge Moreno had a good game as well finishing 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Justin Knoff allowed just four hits in seven innings and struck out five to improve to 2-0 with Sussex. Skyhawks closer Matt Petrusek pitched 1 2/3 innings for his 14th save.

Brockton 8, Atlantic City 3

HR: BRO- Jason Colson (9)

Brockton used a two run homer by DH Jason Colson and a 4-for-4 night from 2B Melvin Falu to top Atlantic City 8-3. Rox CF Eugene Julien made his presence felt with a bases clearing triple to finish with three RBI. Brockton starter John Kelly went six innings and allowed just four hits while striking out eight. His record now stands at 6-4 on the year. JC Huguet went the distance and took the loss for the Surf. His record fell to 7-4.
