Called Up: Rodolfo Pizarro Called up by Mexico for FIFA World Cup Qualifiers

Inter Miami midfielder Rodolfo Pizarro has been called up to the Mexican National Team for its upcoming FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches. The Mexican will join his national team after tonight's match against Orlando City SC.

El Tri will first host Jamaica at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, Mexico on Thursday, Sept. 2 at 10 p.m. ET. They will follow that with a trip to the Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica in San Jose, Costa Rica to face Los Ticos on Sunday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. ET. Last for Mexico will be a match against Panama at the Estadio Rommel Fernández Gutiérrez in Panama City, Panama on Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 9:05 p.m. ET.

Pizarro last played for Mexico at the Concacaf Gold Cup this summer. The midfielder joined Mexico ahead of the quarterfinals of the Gold Cup and went on to appear in the following three matches. He came off the bench in the quarterfinals against Honduras, semifinals against Canada, and final against the United States. Pizarro registered an assist on the winning goal in the semifinals in the 99th minute of the match, but fell to the United States in the final in extra time, registering 44 minutes played in the match.

The midfielder has been in productive form for Inter Miami, scoring three goals in his last two matches, being named MLS Player of the Week for Week 21, and being named an MLS All-Star, the first in Club history.
