Called Up: Israel Boatwright Selected to Represent the Dominican Republic at the 2023 Pan American Games

Inter Miami CF II defender Israel Boatwright has been called up by the Dominican Republic's U-23 National Team for their upcoming participation at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile taking place from Oct. 23 to Nov. 4.

The Dominican Republic and Boatwright are in Group A alongside Chile, Mexico, and Uruguay. The top two teams in the group will advance to the semifinals of the competition set for Wednesday, Nov. 1, while the third- and fourth-placed sides will play in the fifth- and seventh-place matches to be played the same day. The tournament will then conclude on Sunday, Nov. 4 with the Bronze and Gold medal games.

Monday, October 23 at 2 p.m. ET: Group A match - Uruguay vs. Dominican Republic

Thursday, October 26 at 12 p.m. ET: Group A match - Mexico vs. Dominican Republic

Sunday, October 29 at 5 p.m. ET: Group A match - Chile vs. Dominican Republic in Viña del Mar

Boatwright has previously been called up by the Dominican Republic at the youth and senior levels. Notably, in 2022 he was a key member of the U-20 side at the 2022 Concacaf U-20 Championship in which the team historically earned the nation's first-ever qualifications for a FIFA U-20 World Cup and the Summer Olympics, and subsequently went on to feature as a starter in the team's three group stage matches 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina. Most recently, Boatwright featured for the Dominican Republic's U-23 earlier this month for two international friendlies, playing 73 minutes in the team's first fixture against Iraq, and starting the team's second match against Morocco as well.

At the club level, the 18-year-old Academy product recently wrapped up the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro regular season with Inter Miami II after signing his first professional contract with the team in May. In all, the right-back made 16 appearances for the team this year, 13 of them starts, registering three assists in the process. Additionally, Boatwright featured in a 2023 MLS regular season match for Inter Miami on a short-term loan agreement from the Club's MLS NEXT Pro affiliate.
