Kelowna, BC - Calgary Flames prospect Nick Schneider made 31 saves in a first-star performance to backstop the Calgary Hitmen to a 4-3 win over the Kelowna Rockets on Friday night at Prospera Place.
Calgary spread around their attack getting goals from four different players in Mark Kastelic, Hunter Campbell, Jakob Stukel and Cael Zimmerman. For Zimmerman, his first career Western Hockey League marker turned out to be the game winner.
Tied 1-1 after the opening period, the Hitmen led 3-2 after 40 minutes en route to their second consecutive victory.
Nolan Foote, Kyle Topping and Jack Cowell scored for the Rockets who outshot the visitors 34-26.
Calgary, 3-5-1-0, returns to the Scotiabank Saddledome on Sunday, Oct. 15, to welcome the Lethbridge Hurricanes in a 4:00 p.m. start. It will mark the second Sunday Funday, presented by Pocky, of the season. There will be face painters, concourse activities, lots of giveaways and a post-game family skate that is FREE with your game ticket. Sunday Funday contests also feature a specially priced $8.99 ticket (plus applicable fees) for kids 12 and under.
