
Calgary Hitmen captain Brett Carson signs with Carolina Hurricanes

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen are pleased to announce defenceman Brett Carson has signed a three-year contract with the Carolina Hurricanes. The deal paves the way for the 20 year-old to begin his professional career in 2006-07.
The Whitewood, Saskatchewan native was the Hurricanes fourth pick, 109th overall in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He completed the 2005-06 WHL season posting 11 goals and 29 assists (40 points) while playing in all 72 of the Hitmen's regular-season games. He finished the campaign tied for 13th among WHL defenseman in scoring and recorded a plus/minus rating of +13 while accumulating 62 penalty minutes.
"Brett was a valuable member of the Hitmen for three and a half years," said Hitmen GM and Head Coach Kelly Kisio. "He was not only a great player, but a great citizen of Calgary and I'm sure he'll go on to have a real good career."
In 268 career regular-season games with Moose Jaw and Calgary, Carson (6'5", 220 lbs.) notched 28 goals and 82 assists (110 points) and accumulated 204 penalty minutes from 2001-02 to 2005-06.
