Calgary Head Coach Chris Hall to lead West Division Team
February 8, 2005 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Calgary Roughnecks News Release
The National Lacrosse League has announced that Calgary Roughnecks head coach Chris Hall will guide the West Division All-Stars in the 2005 All-Star Game. The All-Star Game will be played in Calgary on Saturday, February 26th and air live on NBC at 2pm Eastern.
Hall's Roughnecks are in first place (4-2) in the West Division, and will remain in first place following the games of Week #7 of the regular season (February 11th-13th). The second-place Arizona Sting (3-3) can tie Calgary for the division lead with a win and a Calgary loss this weekend; however Calgary wins a tie-breaker with Arizona by virtue of its victory over the Sting (15-14 in Calgary on January 22nd) in their only head-to-head matchup so far this season. The San Jose Stealth, also 3-3, do not play this weekend.
The league earlier announced that the teams in first place of their respective divisions following the games of Week #7 would send their head coaches to the All-Star Game as the head coach of their division's team. The head coach of the second place team following Week #7 becomes the assistant coach of the division's All-Star team.
In the East Division, the Buffalo Bandits (3-2) and Rochester Knighthawks (3-2) share first place. Both teams are in action this weekend, as is the Toronto Rock (2-2) who play two games in Week #7. It's possible that all five teams, including the Minnesota Swarm (2-3) and Philadelphia Wings (2-3) could all be tied at 3-3 following the weekend's games.
In other All-Star Game news, fans have until 5pm Eastern on Wednesday to cast their ballots for the East and West Division starting lineups. Fans can vote at www.nll.com, the official website of the National Lacrosse League.
