Toronto Rock to Host "Ladies Night"

February 8, 2005 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Toronto Rock News Release

Toronto, ON – The Toronto Rock, in support of our female fans, will host "Ladies Night" on Saturday February 12, 2005 when they are set to take on the Calgary Roughnecks at the Air Canada Centre at 7:30pm.

"Ladies Night" will begin with Lacrosse 101; the Rock's first ever clinic just for ladies commencing at the Air Canada Centre at 3:00pm. Those in attendance will receive instruction on the fundamentals of lacrosse, both on and off the floor, from Toronto Rock players and coaching staff. The clinic will be followed by a wine and cheese at Joe Badali's on Front St. Anyone who signs up for the clinic will also be entered in a draw to win a DVD player courtesy of Toshiba/Future Shop. Spaces are limited so sign up today to take part in this unique opportunity by calling (416) 596 3075 ext. 226.

To bring better light to women in the sport of lacrosse, the University of Toronto's Women's Varsity Blues Lacrosse team will play in a 20 minute pre-game scrimmage beginning at 6:30pm.

Kicking off the game at 7:35pm, 11 year old Jessica Tyler will sing the National Anthem and a special guest, of recent Toronto Sun fame, will take part in the ceremonial ball drop.

"Ladies Night" is a special opportunity for fans to support the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation in a number of ways. CBCF will have signature "Pink Ribbons" available for a donation, as well as enameled pins and information available at a table located at Gate 1 of the Air Canada Centre. The Molson Canadian Hot Rocks will be selling their exclusive 2005 team posters for $3 and the Lisa's Beads/Les' Fund crew will be back selling special edition bracelets starting at $5. All the proceeds raised from the poster and bracelet sales that night will be donated to CBCF research.

Fans in attendance at the game will have the chance to win 1 of 2 DVD players or a 27" flat screen Toshiba television provided by Saturday's game day sponsor: Toshiba/Future Shop. Also, as a thank you to our female fans that night, the first 1,200 ladies exiting the building will receive a special treat from Laura Secord.

Tickets are still available for "Ladies Night" through Ticketmaster outlets online at www.ticketmaster.ca, by phone (416) 872 5000 or in person at the Box Office at the Air Canada Centre.
