Calderon, Hebert Impress; Pacifics Come up Short

SAN RAFAEL, Calif - Michael Hebertwas dominant for the Pacifics, striking out nine batters, walking two and only giving up one hit. Still, DJ Dixon and the Grapes got the better of the Pacifics and won game two of this three-game series, 4-3 Saturday night at Albert Park.
It was Dixon's double in the seventh that drove in George Ban, putting the Grapes (2-3) ahead for good and spoiled an otherwise superb outing by Pacifics (3-2) starter Hebert. The big righty threw 5 1/3 innings of one-hit ball before turning it over to the bullpen. All three runs scored against him were unearned.
The Pacifics trailed 3-1 going into the fourth, before third baseman Henry Calderonnotched his first hit of the season - a solo home run to left. San Rafael High grad Steve Detwilerscored the Pacifics' tying run after reaching base on a hit by pitch.
San Rafael had the bases loaded in the ninth before Grapes' closer, Marquis Pettis, struck out Calderon, Detwiler and then got Steve Boggs to fly out to center to end the game, stranding pinch-runner Zack Pace at third.
"The whole atmosphere here (at Albert Park) is great, and our team finally realized how great pro ball is," said Dixon, beaming after his game-winning hit.
The Pacifics look to salvage game three of the series on Sunday. First pitch 1:15 p.m., and tickets are still available.
