
Cabrera Added to All-Star Roster

WINNIPEG, MB - Winnipeg Goldeyes outfielder Willie Cabrera has been added to the 2016 American Association All-Star roster and will join fellow outfielder David Rohm at the All-Star Game on Tuesday, Aug. 2 at CHS Field in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Cabrera is batting .322 overall this season and has hit .347 with 13 RBIs, three home runs, and 25 hits in 17 games with Winnipeg, including three hits and two runs scored in Saturday night's 5-4 ninth-inning win over the Kansas City T-Bones. The Goldeyes acquired Cabrera from the Joplin Blasters on July 7. He hit .311 and posted 43 RBIs, eight home runs and 50 hits in 44 games with the Blasters this year.
Cabrera currently ranks second in the league in RBIs with 56 this season and is second in the league in RBIs since he joined the American Association in 2012.
The 29-year-old was also named a High-A Carolina League All-Star with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans in 2008 and a Rookie Appalachian League All-Star when he played for the Danville Braves in 2006.
Cabrera and Rohm will play for the North All-Stars, led by Sioux City Explorers manager Steve Montgomery and comprised of players from the American Association North and Central Divisions. The South All-Star team consists of players from the American Association South Division and the Can-Am League and is led by the Laredo Lemurs' Pete Incaviglia. Managers from both leagues voted in the players for the North and South teams.
