RailCats Outslug AirHogs for Game 4 Victory

CANYON, Texas - The AirHogs dropped a slugfest series finale Sunday at Wilder Park, falling by a final of 9-8. The team will enjoy a 3-day All-Star break before resuming its regular season schedule August 4th in Sioux Falls.

The AirHogs' offense went off for 17 hits, equaling its 2nd highest total of the season, and got huge games from Juan Sanchez and Leon Byrd. Sanchez finished with 3 hits, including his 2nd triple in as many games, 2 runs, and an RBI. Byrd reached 4 times with 2 hits and 2 walks. In all, 7 of the 9 in the batting order finished with multiple hits.

The RailCats jumped out to an early 6-0 lead by tagging AirHogs starter Cody Hebner for 1 run in the 1st and 5 runs in the 2nd. The AirHogs would get2 back in the 2nd and the 3 back in the 3rd though against RailCats starter Braulio Torres-Perez.

The RailCats sent a parade of 5 relievers to the mound, culminating with Jorge De Leon in the 9th. Trailing 9-7, the AirHogs got an RBI base hit against the closer by Byrd but fell short of notching their 5th walkoff of the season.

Hebner absorbed his 8th loss, while Trevor McGee, who pitched 2 2/3 in relief after Torres-Perez exited the game in the 3rd, picked up his 3rd win. The save was the 3rd of the year for De Leon.

The AirHogs (25-44) will be represented by Brian Bistagne, Burt Reynolds and Devon Rodriguez at the All-Star Game. The American Association All-Star festivities will begin August 1st at CHS Field in St. Paul. The home run derby is expected to begin at 8:00 pm. A live broadcast will be available through American Association TV ( www.americanassociationbaseball.tv ).

The All-Star Game will begin at 7:00 pm on August 2nd. A live broadcast will be available on Fox Sports North Plus as well as through American Association TV.
