The Chicago Cubs have announced the following roster moves affecting the Myrtle Beach Pelicans:

-C P.J. Higgins has been placed on the 7-day disabled list, retroactive to April 29.

-C Tyler Pearson has been activated from the 7-day disabled list.

Higgins has hit .224/.341/.313 in 19 games this season, posting three doubles, one home run and 11 RBIs. Over his last three seasons, two of which have come in Myrtle Beach, Higgins has walked 129 times against only 139 strikeouts. With the Birds in 2017, the Wallingford, Conn., native slashed .237/.327/.298 with nine doubles, four homers and 23 RBIs in 98 games. Higgins was originally drafted by the Cubs in the 12th round of the 2015 draft out of Old Dominion University, where he earned a Second Team All-Conference USA selection.

Pearson will see his action of the 2018 season after playing in 35 games for the Pelicans last year, when he batted .257/.339/.425 with seven doubles, four home runs and 11 RBIs. A 25th-round pick by Chicago in 2014 out of Texas State, the Lubbock, Texas native is in his third stint with the Pelicans. He helped the club win a Carolina League championship in 2016. Pearson was originally drafted out of Monterey High School in Texas by the Cleveland Indians in the 38th round of the 2010 draft.

The Pelicans' roster sits at 25 active players, with five players on the disabled list.
