C.D. Pelham Selected to Futures Game
July 6, 2018 - Texas League (TL1)
Frisco RoughRiders News Release
FRISCO, Texas - Frisco RoughRiders left-handed pitcher C.D. Pelham has been selected to the 2018 Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game, played Sunday, July 15 at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.
Rated as the 19th-best prospect in the Rangers organization by MLB Pipeline, Pelham is off to a fantastic start with the Riders, the Double-A affiliate of the Rangers, allowing just two earned runs in his first five outings. The native of Lancaster, South Carolina joined the club June 22 from Advanced-A Down East, where he posted a 1.95 ERA and was a Carolina League Midseason All-Star.
The 23-year-old will be appearing in his first Futures Game, teaming up with some of the brightest young stars in Minor League Baseball, including fellow Rangers prospect Leody Taveras. Previous Riders to participate in the game include current Texas Rangers Elvis Andrus (2008), Jurickson Profar (2012) and Joey Gallo (2014).
The 2018 Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game takes place Sunday, July 15 at 3 p.m. CT. The game will air live on MLB Network.
The Riders return to Dr Pepper Ballpark on Wednesday to begin a four-game series against the San Antonio Missions. For tickets to those games and other remaining home games during the Riders 15th Anniversary Season, visit RidersBaseball.com, call (972) 731-9200 or visit the Dr Pepper Ballpark box office.
