Orlando City SC News Release
+1.51 - Another frustrating night
Orlando City's 1-0 loss to the Los Angeles Galaxy on Friday night was yet another game in which the scoreline betrayed Orlando's performance. Opta had Orlando as 1.51 expected goals better than LA in the game, statistically their second-best performance of the season behind last Sunday's demolition of FC Cincinnati. The more traditional statistics back this up as well, as Orlando out-shot the Galaxy 19-4, including 7-1 on target.
100 - Nan100
Nani has lit up MLS since arriving from Portugal in February, and his form has put him on the precipice of a major milestone. The former Manchester United man's next competitive goal will be the 100th of his professional career back to his debut in 2005. Nani scored 40 of his first 99 with Manchester United, with another 32 coming at his boyhood Sporting CP. Orlando City are already fourth on Nani's career list, behind United, Sporting, and Turkish club Fenerbahçe, for whom he scored 12 goals in 2015-16.
10 - Nacho Buddy, Guy
Three-time MLS All-Star Ignacio Piatti has made a habit of tormenting Orlando City over the past two years. Piatti was limited to just two goals in his first six games against the Lions, but has ripped Orlando apart since the start of 2017, scoring in each of his five games played against Orlando from 2017-19. Piatti has eight goals in his last five against Orlando, including a brace in Montreal's 3-1 win on March 16, and 10 overall for his career, the most any player has ever scored against City.
6 - Winless run
Orlando have gone six straight games without a win against Montreal, their third-longest active run against any opponent. Only Atlanta and Chicago (7 apiece) have experienced a better recent streak against the Lions. The good news? Orlando's last win in the series came in the Stade Saputo, where this weekend's game will take place.
2 - Points off the red line
Orlando City's recent dry run has not impacted their playoff chances too severely. Toronto FC, the Chicago Fire, and the Columbus Crew have all experienced an up-and-down May as well, leaving the four clubs all within two points of each other for the final spot in the playoff race. Montreal appears to be comfortable sitting in fourth on 21 points, but the Impact have a -6 goal differential, worse than three of the four clubs chasing the seventh spot, including Orlando.
2 - Fairwinds Credit Union
