El Paso Diablos News Release
EL PASO-The El Paso Diablos have announced that current Field Manager Butch Henry will return as the Diablos' skipper for the 2007 season.
"Butch did a great job under difficult circumstances this season," said Matt LaBranche Diablos General Manager. "We're excited to give him the opportunity to put his own team together for an entire year."
Henry, a left handed pitcher, was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 15th round of the 1987 amateur draft spending 7 years in the Major Leagues before having to retire early due to arm troubles. During his career Henry was 33-33, with a 3.89 ERA while throwing 621 total innings. The left hander had the best year of his career in 1994 with the Montreal Expos going 8-3 with a 2.43 ERA.
"I'm very excited for the opportunity to come back and manage the Diablos," said Butch Henry Field Manager for the El Paso Diablos. "There is a lot of work to be done in the off season, but I'm excited to get started."
In 2005 Henry was the pitching coach for the Billings Mustangs, the advanced rookie affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds working with some of the top young pitching prospects in their organization.
The Diablos will play the last game of the 2006 season tonight at 6:05 pm. Tickets are still available at the Diablos Box office. Please call 755-2000 for more information.
The El Paso Diablos are members of the newly formed American Association of Professional Baseball. In 2005 the Diablos led the Central League in average attendance while averaging well over 4,000 fans each night at Cohen Stadium.
