Bakersfield Jam News Release

BAKERSFIELD "" Brian Butch banked in a short jump-shot at the buzzer to give the Bakersfield Jam (3-4) a 110-108 road victory over the Los Angeles D-Fenders (1-4).

The Jam got off to a hot start from the field, shooting 65 percent in the first quarter, but only built a two point lead (31-29) after one period of play. Down by three (59-56) entering the third quarter, James Nunnally (11 points) and John Jenkins (10 points) each put in a double-digit scoring quarter performance to keep the Jam within one point entering the final frame (90-89).

The final 12 minutes of regulation was a battle on both ends of the court and ended up coming down to the wire. In the final seconds of the game, Damion James came up with a huge block on Ryan Kelly and that allowed Bakersfield to take a timeout and ultimately the final shot of the game. With 04.3 seconds left, Brian Butch missed a lay-up, grabbed the offensive rebound and followed it up by converting a lay-up as time expired.

Dennis Schröder led Bakersfield with 21 points, while Jenkins finished with 20 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. Nunnally had a total of 19 points, hitting 4-of-5 from beyond the arc, Mac Koshwal tallied 12 points and hero of the night Butch recorded his fifth consecutive double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

The D-Fenders were paced by Los Angeles Lakers assignee Ryan Kelly (30 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists) and Kareem Rush (17 points, 7 rebounds). Josh Magette added 16 points and six assists.

Bakersfield will travel back home to take on the Santa Cruz Warriors on Tuesday, December 10 at 7:00 p.m. PST.
