Boise Burn News Release
BOISE, Idaho ¾ The Boise Burn's head coach Lee Leslie has been busy this week making several roster moves as the arenafootball2 team gets set to host the West Division-leading Spokane Shock at Qwest Arena Saturday. The Burn, 5-4, are second in their division behind the 9-0 Shock.
All-Big Sky Center George Yarno, former Idaho State Bengal and son of former NFL player John Yarno (1979-89), Brad Stewart-LB out of Weber State, and three-time Big Sky Champion Eric Allen-WR from the University of Montana have been signed to af2 contracts and assigned to the Burn. As well, OL/DL Jeremy Inferrera has been acquired from the Tri-Cities Fever to complete a âpast considerations' trade.
FB/DL Derek Beardall, FB/LB Kelly Gilchrist, OL/DL Mike Peko, and OL/DL Philemon Wilson have all been released from the team. FB/LB Chris Bruhn has been placed on team suspension.
"We're bringing guys in to fill three huge holes with the loss of [George] Williams, [Joe] Critchfield and [Dustin] Rykert," said Coach Leslie. "These guys all come from great programs, with good pedigree and they come with solid recommendations from their former coaches, and I expect they'll be up to speed with the arena game pretty quick."
Williams, who set the af2's record for career points (1,084) and touchdowns (179) while with the Burn this season, and Critchfield were released from the team late May, and Rykert was placed on the injured-reserve list May 30.
Kick off for Saturday's game is at 7:10 pm. Tickets are on sale now by calling 331-TIXS (8497), visiting www.boiseburn.com or visiting the Qwest Arena box office. Season tickets are also available by calling (208) 383-0080. For more information and to get a full schedule, visit the website.
