AMARILLO, Texas - The Amarillo Dusters announced plans to expand the ownership group by seeking local investment. "From the onset of our involvement with the Dusters our intent has been to develop a strong base of local owners," said Doug MacGregor, Texas af2 Holdings LLC President, "We believe that the team is ready to add local business leaders who want to be involved with building the team to the next level."
Attendance for home games at the Amarillo Civic Center Arena has increased in 2008 for the first half of the season. The Dusters have enjoyed the support of local sponsors such as Amarillo National Bank, Street Toyota, and Wienerschnitzel.
The team's management announced their intent to immediately begin discussions with local community groups and businesses about the plan in order to ensure that the expanded ownership group is in place early in the off-season.
"We are pleased with the progress that the team has made both in reputation in the community as well as financial performance," said MacGregor, "We are excited about the strength and business model of the af2."
Texas af2 Holdings currently fields five af2 teams in Texas including the Texas Copperheads in Katy, the Austin Wranglers, and the Lubbock Renegades.
The Amarillo Dusters are beginning the second half of the season with three home games in the month of June. The team's final home game is July 21. The Dusters will look for another division victory as they battle the Arkansas Twisters at home this Saturday.
