(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- Infielders Jake Burger and Marco Hernández both homered to power the Charlotte Knights past the Norfolk Tides by a score of 6-4 on Tuesday evening from Truist Field. The home run was Burger's second in as many games.

Making his fourth start of the season for the Knights, Burger launched a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning for Charlotte. Burger, 25, also homered in Sunday's game and has scored a run in all four games he's played in this season. After missing the past three seasons (two due to injuries and last year due to the MiLB season being cancelled), Burger is off to a solid start to his Triple-A career. He entered the season ranked as the number 16 prospect in Chicago's system by MLB.com.

"It's good to see," said manager Wes Helms on Burger's success this season. "The kid's been through a lot and to see him have that success over the last few games, I know it means a lot to him and it means a lot to this team."

Hernández launched his first home run of the season in the sixth inning off Norfolk reliever Josh Rogers (0-2, 7.88), who was saddled with the loss. Hernández finished the game 2-for-4 with the home run, two runs scored and two RBIs. Left fielder Blake Rutherford had a game-high three hits on the night and catcher Seby Zavala extended his hit streak to six games with another two-hit performance.

RHP Jonathan Stiever (0-0, 2.57) started for the Knights and allowed two runs on five hits over four innings of work. RHP Connor Sadzeck (1-0, 9.00) allowed one run on three hits over two innings to earn the win out of Charlotte's 'pen. Relievers Nik Turley and Danny Dopico both tossed a scoreless inning apiece, while RHP Ryan Burr earned the save in the ninth despite allowing a solo home run to Tyler Nevin.

The Knights will continue their six-game series against the Norfolk Tides on Wednesday at 7:04 p.m. from Truist Field. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad and broadcaster Mike Pacheco will have the call for all of the action on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte and CharlotteKnights.com. Gates for the game will open at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday night.
