Bundy and Howard Contain Tourists in 4-1 Win

Salisbury, Md. - Dylan Bundy and Trent Howard combined to hold the Tourists to just one run en route to a 4-1 victory at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium on Monday night. Bundy extended his scoreless innings streak to 17, while Howard earned his second win by pitching the final five innings.

The Shorebirds scored first in the second inning. Brenden Webb ignited the inning with a triple to the right-center field wall. Two batters later, Connor Narron singled into center field to give the Shorebirds a 1-0 lead.

Despite allowing the first hit of his Minor League Baseball career, Dylan Bundy faced the minimum over four scoreless innings. He struck out four and induced two double plays. The South Atlantic League is 1-for-50 against Bundy (.020 batting average).

Asheville tied the game in the sixth inning against Trent Howard. Will Swanner doubled and Jared Simon followed suit to bring home Swanner.

In the sixth inning, the Shorebirds regained the lead. Jason Esposito hit a one out single. Gabriel Lino was then hit by a pitch. Brenden Webb followed with a walk. Then, Nicky Delmonico looped a single into shallow right field to score two runs.

Delmonico added his team-best 18th RBI of the season in the eighth to score Lino.

Howard followed Bundy and carried the Shorebirds all the way to the end. In five innings, he struck out six and did not walk a batter.

The Shorebirds travel to Savannah, Georgia to the play the Sand Gnats on Wednesday, May 2. Left-hander Tim Berry is the scheduled starter.
