(Traverse City, MI)- The Traverse City Beach Bums completed their sweep of the Slammers on Thursday night in walk-off fashion to finish off the series sweep.

Abel Nieves put the Slammers up early in the top of the first inning, belting a home run to put Joliet up 2-0. They tacked on another in the top of the third when Patrick Norris laced a leadoff triple and was brought around on a groundout by Brad Netzel.

Traverse City got on the board in the home half. With runners on the corners, Ryan Still singled to put the game within two, and Chase Burch closed the gap with a solo shot in the fourth. Jose Vargas tied the ballgame up in the sixth when he brought around Brian Heere on an RBI single.

The Bums hit their second homer of the night in the seventh when Sean Gusrang went yard to take a 4-3 lead over Joliet, but a Traverse City error allowed David Christensen to score and tie it up at four apiece.

But it was the bottom of the ninth where the game was decided. After putting up nine RBI through the first two games of the series, Marcus Nidiffer put the Bums over the top on a two-run walk-off homer to end the game 6-4.

Jacob Sanchez tossed a solid performance in the start, going nearly seven innings on four runs while fanning six. Geoff Brown and Daniel Carela threw relief in the later innings, but Rey Cotilla was stuck with the loss in the ninth.
