FLORENCE, KY - The Traverse City Beach Bums(7-13) got the tying run on base in the ninth inning but ultimately fell to the Florence Freedom(7-13), 5-3.
The Bums started off the game quickly when Ryan Bottger led off the game by walking. He was able to move to second when a pickup throw got away from the first baseman. After advancing to third on a fly out, he scored on a passed ball. Jose Vargas followed by cranking a solo homer over the left field wall for his second of the season, and Traverse City led 2-0.
Florence cut the lead in half in the second on an RBI double by Josh Henderson. Then, in the third, and with men on second and third, Richard Seigel hit a grounder off the pitcher, Jacob Lanning. Will Kengor charged the ball and got the out at first a run came in to score, tying the game. Collins Cuthrell then hit an RBI single to center, to give the Freedom a 3-2 lead.
With two outs in the fourth, Travis Weaver hit his first home run of the season, a solo shot, extending the Florence advantage. Another solo blast was hit in the sixth with two away, this time by Isaac Wenrich, and it was 5-2, Freedom.

Down to his last strike, Giancarlo Brugnoni singled up the middle, scoring Thomasson, and putting the tying run on first, and the lead run at the plate, but that is as close as Traverse City would come as they drop the weekend series, two games to one.
