NORMAL, Ill. - The Normal CornBelters, presented by Illinois Corn Farmers, unknotted a tie with a seven-run seventh inning to defeat the Windy City ThunderBolts 10-3 on Sunday at the Corn Crib and win their third straight series.

Dillon Haupt homered to the right center field lawn to the left of the corn planters to lead off the scoring and give the CornBelters a 1-0 lead.

Windy City tied the game in the fourth inning with an one-out RBI double from Reggie Lawson, but the potential big inning was cut when a rundown between second and third resulted in a runner being thrown out at the plate followed by a strikeout.

Mike Fish regained the lead for the hosts with two outs in the fifth inning with a home run just over the right field fence for a 2-1 advantage. The Belters added a run in the sixth with Haupt's double to the left field corner scoring Aaron Dudley from first base for a 3-1 lead.

The Bolts forged a 3-3 tie in the seventh inning on a two-run, two-out single by Larry Balkwill that was misplayed in center field to allow the tying run to come home.

The CornBelters regained the advantage with a seven-run seventh inning that began with consecutive doubles by R.J. Perucki and Fish. Scoring in the frame continued when a sacrifice bunt by Ty Morris was thrown away to plate Fish, and Morris came home on a Dylan Kelly base hit followed by an RBI double from Dudley for a 7-3 lead. Haupt then connected for his second homer of the day and his third and fourth runs batted in to build the advantage to 9-3. A misplay in left field on another single by Fish plated pinch runner Mitch Elliott to complete the onslaught with a 10-3 lead.

Francisco Carillo (2-0) pitched two relief innings for the win. Brian Loconsole (0-1) took the loss.

The Belters are off Monday and Tuesday before opening a six-game road trip with a doubleheader on Wednesday at Evansville. The first game begins at 4:05 p.m. and can be heard on WJBC.com with links also found on CornBelters social media and www.normalbaseball.com.
