Durham Bulls News Release
DURHAM, NC - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders defeated the Durham Bulls for the second straight night, earning an 8-4 win Friday night at the DBAP in front of 10,095 fans.
Tied 4-4 entering the 11th inning, the RailRiders (18-18) scored four runs, highlighted by three doubles in the frame. Scranton/WB sent eight men to the plate in the inning, scoring all of its runs off Ronald Belisario (0-1) who suffered the loss.
Scranton/WB jumped on the Bulls from the beginning, plating three runs in the first inning behind a pair of doubles, a single and a walk, before extending the lead to 4-0 in the second inning on a two-out double by Ben Gamel.
Durham (20-16) struck back in the bottom of the second though, as Luke Maile was hit by a pitch, and Alexi Casilla followed with a two-run homer over the rightfield wall to cut the deficit to 4-2.
In the seventh Durham struck again, as Taylor Motter and Jake Elmore each singled to lead off the frame to put runners on the corners. Mikie Mahtook then drove a pitch through the left side, scoring Motter to make it a 4-3 ballgame.
In the eighth the Bulls continued their comeback, as Allan Dykstra and Casilla singled to lead off the frame before a strikeout. After an error loaded the bases, Elmore walked to score Eugenio Velez, who pinch-ran for Dykstra. That would be all Durham would strike for in the frame though, as the next two batters each struck out to end the threat.
Southpaw Jacob Lindgren (1-1) earned the win, tossing 2 2/3 scoreless innings, entering in the eighth inning and pitching through the end of the 10th. The Durham offense finished the evening just 2-for-16 with runners in scoring position, leaving 14 men on base on the evening.
Game three of the four-game set takes place Saturday, when the Bulls send RHP Dylan Floro (3-3, 4.46) to the mound against RHP Bryan Mitchell (2-3, 4.26) for the RailRiders. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m.
