Somerset Patriots News Release
York, Pennsylvania - The Somerset Patriots (9-2) rode a strong evening from their bullpen into a 3-2 win over the York Revolution (4-8) Wednesday night at PeoplesBank Park. The win marked Somerset's seventh-straight, while finishing off a three-game sweep of the Revs and a perfect 5-0 road trip.
Logan Darnell started the ballgame for Somerset, but was pulled four pitches into the second inning, handing the ball off to Nate Roe. He retired the first five batters he faced before allowing five-straight to reach base with two out in the third inning, plating two runs and giving the Revs a 2-0 lead.
Somerset was held off the scoreboard until Will Kengor's RBI double in the top of the sixth inning broke the ice and trimmed the York lead in half.
The Patriots then took their first lead of the night in the top of the seventh. An RBI single from Craig Massey tied the game at two before a Ramon Flores RBI fielder's choice scratched across the go-ahead run.
Five different Patriots relief pitchers combined to yield just two runs over eight innings to the Revs. That included 2.1 scoreless innings from James Pugliese, 2.0 scoreless frames from Luis Cruz (1-0) - who earned the win - and back-to-back scoreless frames from Mike Broadway and Mike Antonini.
Jeffrey Rosa (0-1) took the loss after allowing two runs over his 0.1 innings on the mound. Antonini (5) earned the save with a scoreless ninth inning.
The 2019 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Thursday, May 9th when the team returns to TD Bank Ballpark for a 6:35 pm game against the Lancaster Barnstormers. The game features Dancing With The Patriots Night. For tickets, stop by the box office located at TD Bank Ballpark, call (908) 252-0700, or visit www.somersetpatriots.com.
