Green Bay Rockers News Release

It took ten innings for the Bullfrogs to finish Monday's game against the Woodchucks, but that wouldn't stop them from ending their six game losing streak. Green Bay came through in this contest with a 6-5 victory over Wisconsin.

The game started out with power out of the Bullfrogs bats with a three run home run from Tripp Martin (Samford) for his third home run of the season. Jose Godinez (St. Norbert) and Robert Youngdahl (Notre Dame) were the two other runners to score to give Green Bay a 3-0 lead after one inning.

Wisconsin didn't stay quiet for long as shortstop Brandon Krieg (Purdue) drove in right fielder Garrett Rucker (Arkansas) to get the first run on the board for the Woodchucks. Krieg came in to score with a single from Tyler Stieb (Cal State Fullerton) to bring it to a one run game after two innings with Green Bay leading 3-2.

The power in the Bullfrogs bats continued going in to the fifth inning with a two-run home run from shortstop Cabe Reiten (Gonzaga). It was Reiten's first home run of the season and a much needed hti for the shortstop after a struggling road trip. The two-run home run would gave the Bullfrogs a 5-2 lead after five and some much needed insurance runs.

Derek Callahan (Gonzaga) went six innings, only giving up two runs and striking out four batters. Matt Freeman (St. Norbert) came in to pitch a scoreless seventh inning giving Green Bay a 5-2 lead in to the eighth. Kevin Nutley (St. Norbert) came in to pitch the eighth, beginning the struggles for the Bullfrogs.

Two errors in the eighth from Mitch Ghelfi (UW-Milwaukee) and J.D. Crowe (Auburn) led to three runs from the Woodchucks to tie the game up at five after eight innings. Those three runs would eventually force the game to extra innings and the second extra inning contest at Joannes Stadium on the season.

The heroics went in the Bullfrogs favor Monday, as Kelly Norris-Jones (Illinois) drove in Cabe Reiten in his first at-bat in a Bullfrogs uniform to give Green Bay a 6-5 victory over the Woodchucks, ending its six game losing streak.

The win went to reliever Jonathon Tripp who pitched a scoreless tenth inning, and the loss went to Jackson Lowery who went 3.1 innings.

Green Bay will come back home on Wednesday for a two game set against Eau Claire and a lone game against Madison on Friday. Come out to Joannes Stadium for $1 Dog Days of Summer Wednesdays with Y100 and Hot Dog Hundo. First pitch scheduled for 7:05 against the Express.

Individual and season ticket packages are still available.
