Bullfrogs Sweep Kingfish out of Green Bay

Kenosha Kingfish News Release

Green Bay, Wis. - A road trip that began so sweetly in Wisconsin Rapids ended sourly in Green Bay Monday night. The Kingfish, having already dropped three straight contests, fell to the Green Bay Bullfrogs in the final matchup of the two game series and six game road trip by a final score of 8-1.

Dillon Mazzoccoli was sent to the mound for the Kingfish. Like EJ Trapino the day before, Mazzoccoli had a tough time. Mazzoccoli threw for five innings, surrendering four runs. He walked two, struck out four, and took the loss. Trevor Haas came in to relieve him and pitched three innings, which constituted the remainder of the ball game. He surrendered three runs, only one of them earned, off of a trio of hits and a pair of walks.

The Kingfish's weakness (pitching) was the Bullfrogs' strength. The Bullfrogs utilized their ace Garrett Harrison who was marvelous. Harrison, having already thrown a 5-hit complete game shutout earlier in the year against the Woodchucks, lasted 6.1 IP and allowed only three hits to Kingfish hitters. Aside from Zach Weigel, who collected two hits, nobody in the order was able to figure out the junior from St. Cloud State. His successor, Connor Donovan, was sharp as well. Donovan allowed one run in 2.2 IP off of a mere two hits. The highly touted Bullfrog pitching staff, which boasts a team 2.61 ERA, was able to contain a Kingfish offense that has had a strong ability to score, evidenced by their season run total exceeding 170 runs.

The Kingfish were able to avoid being shut out for the second time in four days as Hunter Alexander blooped an RBI single in the top of the ninth to score Eric Filia. Alex Borglin was able to collect a hit in addition to the two recorded by Zach Weigel. Kingfish outfielders finished the evening going a combined 4-10 with a run scored and a walk, while the infielders could only muster one hit in 15 collective at-bats.

The Kingfish have, as a team, been held to a mere ten runs over the course of their past four losses. They will attempt to get back to their winning ways tomorrow evening as they begin a three-game homestand, starting with a two-game series against the La Crosse Loggers.

The Kingfish ticket office powered by Platinum Systems office is located at 7817 Sheridan Road and is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
