
Bullfrogs Silence Growlers with Nine Runs

Green Bay, Wis. - The Green Bay Bullfrogs returned to Joannes Stadium on Tuesday night to face the Kalamazoo Growlers and begin an eight-game home stand. Bullfrogs starting pitcher Nathan Disch (Jacksonville) gave up only one run over six innings and Green Bay's offense provided seven runs of support, as the Bullfrogs took down the Growlers on Tuesday by a score of 9-3.
Disch, who made his first start of the season for the Bullfrogs on Tuesday night, gave up only three hits and one run in six innings of work. The Appleton, Wis. native also struck out four batters while earning his second win of the season.
Disch surrendered his only run to Kalamazoo in the top of the first inning, but the Bullfrogs responded with a run of their own in the inning to tie the game at one. Paul Jacobson (South Dakota State) started things with a single to center before scoring on an RBI double by Johnny Bekakis (Long Beach State).
Green Bay would add three more runs in the second inning to open up a 4-1 lead over the Growlers. Franco Guardascione (Palm Beach State College), Matthew de la Rosa (Lenoir-Rhyne), and Jacobson all had doubles in the inning. Both Dean Long (Emporia State) and Jacobson also drove in runs in the inning for the Bullfrogs.
Long continued the Bullfrogs scoring in the fourth inning with a solo home run to put Green Bay up, 5-1. Bekakis also drove in de la Rosa, who reached on a single, in the fourth inning to give the Bullfrogs a 6-1 lead. Long drove in his third run of the game in the fifth inning to push the Green Bay lead to six runs at 7-1.
Long finished the night 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run scored, while de la Rosa was 3-for-3 with two runs scored on Tuesday night.
Green Bay added two more insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Bekakis had an RBI single that scored Brian Celsi (California), while Ryan Koziol (Gulf Coast State) added an RBI double that scored Jacobson.
Jacobson went 2-for-3 on the night with two RBI and two runs scored for Green Bay, while Bekakis added three hits and three RBI for the Bullfrogs as well.
Green Bay and Kalamazoo will finish their two-game series on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm from Joannes Stadium.
