Green Bay, Wis. - The Bullfrogs drop the first game of the series to the Kalamazoo Growlers 4-3. The low scoring game did not go the way of the Bullfrogs as they will fall to 8-15 on the season. Dakota Klein (Texas A&M) took the loss for the Bullfrogs and BJ Butler (Ball State) got the win.

Klein's struggles continue as the left handed pitcher was unable to make it out of the second inning in tonight's ball game. After walking four batters, Peter Castillo (Palm Beach State) replaced him in the second. Castillo also struggled with command in tonight's ballgame after walking four batters himself. The first two pitchers for the Bullfrogs gave up three runs and walked eight.

The Bullfrogs got their first run of the ballgame in the top of the third. Parker Coss (UC-Irvine) reached on an error to begin the inning and moved to third on a double by Brian Lees (Southeast Missouri State). Matt Hoeg (Iowa Western CC) hit a sac fly to score Coss. Down 3-1, the Bullfrogs made it a one run game after Quincy Nieporte (Florida State) scored on a balk after reaching on a single to right field to start the fourth.

The rest of the bullpen was spectacular for the Bullfrogs as Luke VanLanen (Valparasio), Matt Gunter (Hawaii Pacific), and Harrisen Egly (Columbia) kept the Bullfrogs in this ballgame. In six innings, the relief pitchers gave up three hits, struck out six, walked none, and allowed one run to come around and score.

In the top of the sixth the Bullfrogs got within one run once again as Hill Alexander (Midland) hit an infield single with the bases loaded to score Nieporte. The Bullfrogs would leave the bases loaded in that inning without scoring anymore runs.

The Growlers bullpen shut the door on the Bullfrogs as Garvin Alston (Arizona State) threw two scoreless innings. Austin Rodesky (Findlay) came in to earn his second save of the season. Butler went six innings, striking out seven, walking 2, and giving up two earned runs.

Offensively, Nieporte finished the game with two hits and scoring two of the Bullfrogs three runs. Austin Clemons (Louisville) had two hits. Alexander and Hoeg both had one RBI on the night.

The Bullfrogs will be back in action tomorrow night as they face the Growlers in the series finale in Kalamazoo. First pitch is set for 7:05 ET.
