Green Bay Rockers News Release
Mequon, Wis. - The Green Bay Bullfrogs and Lakeshore Chinooks will take to the field once again on Monday night to play the final game of their two-game series in Mequon, Wis. Following Monday's game against Lakeshore, the Bullfrogs will return home for an eight-game home stand that begins on Tuesday.
On Sunday night in Mequon, the Bullfrogs fell behind early to the Chinooks, but tied the game up at three on a Johnny Bekakis (Long Beach State) three-run home run in the sixth inning. However, the Chinooks would score runs in the seventh and eighth innings to win the game by a score of 8-3. Dean Long (Emporia State) and Julian Russell (Chicago State) were both 3-for-4 on the night for the Bullfrogs. Ryan Howell (Chabot) was also 2-for-4 and now has five hits in his last two games.
On Monday night, Green Bay will start Luke Watson (UW-Stevens Point) on the mound. The senior right-hander will be making his third start of the season for the Bullfrogs. In twelve appearances (two starts) so far this year, Watson owns a 1-2 record with a 4.80 ERA. Watson's most recent start, which came on June 30th against the Wisconsin Woodchucks, was a no decision after he threw four innings, giving up just one run on three hits.
Will Headean (Illinois State) will be making his first start of the season for the Chinooks on Monday night. Headean, a six-foot-four left-hander, has appeared in just one game for Lakeshore so far this season. In that appearance, Headean threw three innings of relief against Battle Creek on July 2nd, giving up no runs on just one hit.
First pitch on Monday night is scheduled for 6:35 pm from Kapco Park in Mequon, Wis. After Monday's game, the Bullfrogs will return home on Tuesday to begin the eight-game home stand, with two games against the Kalamazoo Growlers on Tuesday and Wednesday.
