Green Bay Rockers News Release

The Bullfrogs' bats were hot again on Sunday afternoon, and Green Bay defeated Wisconsin 16-5 to take a three game series with the Woodchucks.

The scoring opened in the bottom of the second inning when the Bullfrogs scored seven runs to take an early lead against Wisconsin. The big hit was a Ryan McCauley two-out grand slam to right-center field. Six of Green Bay's seven runs in the second came with two-outs.

The 'Chucks came right back with a big inning of their own. With one run already in, Luke Moran doubled home two more to cut the lead to 4 runs. Gage Green, who would have been the third run of the play, was gunned down at the plate by a textbook 'Frogs relay for the inning's first out. Two more runs came in on an Andrew Montanari single, his first hit of the season. This made the score 7-5.

Wisconsin's offense was quiet for the rest of the day. Green Bay added to its lead with one run in the fifth, one run in the sixth, and batted around and drove in seven in the eighth. The final score read 16-5, and the 'Frogs sent their hometown fans home happy from Joannes Stadium for the first time this year, earning their first home win.

Robb Woodcock started the game on the mound for Green Bay. He went just two and two thirds innings and was charged with all five of the Woodchucks runs. He was relieved by Alex Abrams, who went two and one third scoreless. Bud Jeter then pitched himself into and out of a bases-loaded jam. He left after the sixth. Elliot Waterman earned a save in his first Bullfrogs appearance, pitching three scoreless to complete the game.

The 'Frogs now hit the road to take on the Bombers for a two-game series in Battle Creek. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 Central Daylight time. If you cannot make it to the game, go to greenbaybullfrogs.com and click "Bullfrogs Radio" to listen live, or to northwoodsleague.tv to watch live.
