Wisconsin Rapids, WI. - The visiting Green Bay Bullfrogs (14-31, 2-7) used an eight -run, eight-hit first inning to cruise past the host Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (20-24, 5-4) by a final score of 15-1 at Witter Field Thursday evening. 14 runs was the largest margin of victory by the Bullfrogs this summer with a season-high 15 runs scored as well. Green Bay tied their season-high in hits with 18 in the contest, which they had one other time on June 25 against Battle Creek in a 14-0 win. The game was officially called due to inclement weather in the top of the eighth inning, giving the Bullfrogs the victory.

Green Bay's bats showed no mercy in the first inning, sprinting out to a commanding 8-0 advantage in the opening frame. The scoring explosion began with a RBI double from Adrian Damla (Sophomore, UC Irvine) followed by a RBI single by Blaise Maris (Sophomore, Florida Tech) to make it a 2-0 lead.

Eddy Gonzalez (Junior, Incarnate Word) then smoked a two-run double to stretch the advantage to 4-0. Alejandro Gonzalez (Freshman, Hillsborough CC) followed with a two-run double of his own to make it a 6-0 contest. A pair of run-scoring singles by Matthew Acosta (Sophomore, USC) and Preston Pavlica (Junior, Grand Canyon Univ.) capped the eight-run frame.

Wisconsin Rapids was held to just four hits in the contest against six Bullfrogs pitchers, scoring its lone run in the bottom of the first inning on a RBI single by Ty Duvall to cut the deficit down to 8-1.

The Bullfrogs picked up right where they left off in the next inning as Luke Robinson (Sophomore, Western Carolina) and Maris blasted back-to-back home runs to extend the lead out to 10-1. The Frogs have laced consecutive home runs for the second straight game. A sacrifice fly from Eddy Gonzalez then made it 11-1.

Green Bay added two more runs in the fifth on a RBI base-knock from Robinson and Pavlica scoring on an error to make it a 13-1 game. The Frogs notched one run in the sixth on Acosta's RBI walk and one more run in the seventh on Eddy Gonzalez's second sacrifice fly of the night to push the margin to 15-1.

Acosta finished with a monster performance at the plate, going 4-for-5 with a RBI. Pavlica went 3-for-5 with a RBI and one run scored, while Maris was 3-for-5 with two runs driven in and three runs scored. Robinson went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Cooper Morrison (Sophomore, UC Davis) scored three runs in a 2-for-4 effort. Eddy Gonzalez tallied a team-high four RBIs going 1-for-2 in the contest.

Green Bay starting pitcher Jason Applegate (Junior, Villanova) earned the win, improving to 2-2. Wisconsin Rapids starter Brecken Lewis took the loss, falling to 1-3.

Both teams return to action tomorrow evening at Joannes Stadium to conclude the home-and-home series. First pitch is slated for a 7:05 p.m. start.
